The Chicago Reporter
The Chicago Reporter is an award-winning publication featuring investigative journalism and in-depth reports on race and poverty in Chicago.
The online version of the publication is built on the 'Otter' platform developed by MR+A and features an issue-based publishing system that organizes stories by print issue, but still allows breaking news and features to be easily integrated into the online platform.
Among the features developed for the Chicago Reporter site are a custom search application that returns tuned search results and an AJAX-callback that displays other stories within a corresponding issue in an easy to use pop-up.
The site was designed by Karen Gibson. The Chicago Reporter was recently ranked as the 16th most useful website for public-interest news by the Community Media Workshop.
